Obama never fail to make me laugh with his spontaneous humour. From the jokes that he made during his inauguration, charity ball, and here is another one. The President and the First Lady were hosting a reception for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride Month in the East Room of the White House.

Apparently a journalist with a funky sounding "Duck Ringtone" forgot to put her phone in silent mode. What a luck that it rang when the President was giving his speech.

'Whose - whose duck is back there?' asked a confused Mr Obama, who had just been delivering a solemn address on homosexuality and civil rights.

'It's a duck,' First Lady Michelle Obama confirmed, breaking down into giggles.

'Where do you guys get these ringtones, by the way?' the president asked to laughter. 'I'm just curious.'

If I was the journalist, I would have hide my "duck" head deep inside the ground. Lol! Really something to start my July!

Is H1N1 That Bad? [30 Jun 2009]

When I was surfing online, I saw quite a number of people cursing and swearing about the H1N1 virus that are currently spreading. They were complaining how their life were affected, how their schedules were affected, and so on. In Singapore it has already claimed its victim number 629 and around the world millions more have been infected.

I was asking myself is it that bad for H1N1 to happen? A small part of myself was saying that it is definitely disastrous to have this pandemic going around when we can make do with none. People will always love the best case scenario.

But somehow I felt that this H1N1 pandemic is necessary to keep us humans from being complacent. The virus could have been more severe and deadly. The virus could have been more contagious and without a cure. But well god is kind enough to allow us this minor viral infection to prepare us for a future pandemic outbreak. I felt that with this experience, we can handle future pandemic outbreak with much more maturity, experience and confidence.

So should we feel fortunate that H1N1 is curable and mild? Or should we be cursing and swearing like most people do? Let's adapt the right attitude and count our blessings for once.

Oliver and The Leopard [26 Jun 2009]

A man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took Oliver, his faithful pet dog along for company.

One day, Oliver was chasing butterflies in the forest and discovered that he was lost!

Wandering about, he noticed a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch.

Oliver thought, "I'm in real trouble now!"

Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by and immediately settled down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.

Just as the leopard was about to leap, Oliver exclaimed loudly...

"Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the leopard halted his attack mid-leap, and a look of sheer terror came over him.
He slinked away into the trees. "Whew," said the leopard.

"That was close. That beast nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree decided that he could put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard.

So, off he went. However Oliver saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up.

The monkey soon caught up with the leopard, explained how the dog had fooled him and struck a protection pact for himself with the leopard.

The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and said, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine."

Now Oliver saw the leopard approaching with the monkey on his back and thought, "What am I going to do now?"

But instead of running, Oliver sat down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hadn't seen them yet...and just when they get close enough to hear, Oliver shouted...

"Where's that stupid monkey? I sent him off ages ago to bring me another leopard."

So remember:
Even in a crisis, if we can choose
to make the most of what we have
we will survive and we will thrive!

Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield.

I am glad that Liverpool managed to secure Glen Johnnson from Portsmouth for £17m. To many others, the amount of money spent on him might appear excessive, especially after news report about the amount of debt that the owners have put on Liverpool. Note it's the OWNERS. As mentioned Liverpool itself is a very profitable club. Alright I shouldn't ramble about how much these 2 yankees are pulling Liverpool down.

Not that I am justifying the Rafael Benitez's move on spending £17m for a right back. But well I can understand the reason behind it

1. He's only 24 years old

2. He's English (Given the new Champions League 4+4 rule, Englishmen are prized possession)

3. Rafa has been having problems in the right back position

4. Portsmouth still owes Liverpool £7m

5. The transfer market this season is crazy. Any amount less than £15m will buy you peanuts!

6. Most importantly he is the one of the BEST right backs in the world.

So welcome Glen! Looking forward to seeing you in the mighty red shirt next season. I hope you don't turn out to be a flop like Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen.

Fun at Marina Barrage! [19 Jun 2009]

Was looking forward to this day. But didn't imagine that it will be so fun!

The initial plan was to have dinner at Simpang Bedok, cycling at East Coast, followed by Durian and You Tiao at Geylang. Since Anthony got stucked at work and Tey stucked in the gym, so all the bicycle shop was closed. We decided to go to Marina Barrage. Different plan but I guess it ended up to be more fun!

Had a decent fried rice and cheese fries at Simpang, but the fried Oyster was horrible. It was so bitter, unfresh and the starch looks yucky. Point to note is to never order a Chinese cuisine at Simpang.

When we reached Marina Barrage, the girls went crazy over the water droplets balloon! We found an unused kite at the open field and started playing with it. The most excited one will be Geri who is known with her phrase "Go fly kite and eat steamboat!" Haha. And we practically disturbed the romancing couples with our laughter when playing frisbee. So sorry to spoil it. ;)

Had supper at HongKong Cafe before heading home. Well next stop is cycling I guess. Anyone?
